In late March more than a hundred people came together to play in the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki annual golf fun fundraiser, held at the Ngamotu Golf Course in New Plymouth.
With 22 five-person teams, the event is a big one for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki, says Project Leader – Youth Development, Senior Constable Paul Lampe.
“Our annual golf day is a biggie for the Big Brother Big Sisters of Taranaki team. We spend a lot of time connecting with the community to ensure we have a good number of teams playing, and we’re grateful to have a lot of local businesses supporting us with raffle prizes and sponsoring holes out on the course.
“This year we raised $11,000, all of which goes directly toward helping the more than 100 young people on the programme by covering the costs of after school sport, swimming lessons or club fees.
“The success of our annual golf fundraiser is thanks to the many individuals and businesses in our local Taranaki communities who give their time and support, and we’re really grateful for that support.”
Todd Energy’s Community Partnerships and Public Affairs Manager, Hamish McHaffie, says the organisation is proud of the relationships it has with community groups across Taranaki and was pleased to be able to support Big Brothers Big Sisters in their fundraising efforts.
